Customer review

I have always wanted to learn how to do Tunisian crochet and have been looking for a book that has clear instructions, and this book has that. Clear photos of the stitches and how to do them. The 10 projects in the book are very modern and my girls loved them. My favourite is the wall hanging on the front of the book and the Mite Square Blanket.

Customer review

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review - So here goes:

I have always been fascinated by Tunisian crochet, yet never brave enough to try it as it looks so complicated! This book, however, has given me the confidence to give it a go. Emma Guess has aimed this book at total beginners, and all the basics are explained clearly - from which hooks to use for Tunisian, and which types of yarn are best suited for this technique. The book then progresses onto the main stitches that are used for Tunisian - including Tunisian Simple Stitch, Tunisian Purl Stitch, and Tunisian Knit Stitch. Each stitch has its own section, with extremely well written instructions, and superb photos which are really clear and easy to follow. What looked so difficult to master before, is now something that I really believe is achievable.

The second half of this beautiful book is filled with 10 projects - all of them really fun, modern and appealing. I especially like the wrist warmers which I hope to start soon. Each project in the book is clearly written, and gives the maker the opportunity to try out the stitches learnt at the start of the book.

All in all this is a brilliant book, and one of the best that I have seen on Tunisian crochet. I'm really excited to learn the stitches featured, and develop my Tunisian crochet skills.

Customer review

This book is great for a beginner like me, it details basic styles of Tunisian stitches to learn. I like the bag pattern and the hand warmer pattern as these are projects I can do with those odd balls of wool hanging around in my stash.

Customer review

This is the book I have been waiting for for a long time. It has clear pictures and clear descriptions of how to do this. I can't wait to get started.

Amazon

I am new to Tunisian Crochet and I have always found it very interesting, so I really wanted to learn to master the craft.

The Beginners Guide is a simple and easy to understand tutorial and with the photographed visual instructions it really is a brilliant teaching book. I loved how the author has dedicated each stitch to it's own section. There are diagrams as well as photographs and each step is explained in full detail.

This is a book for total beginners, with 10 stunning projects. From bags to wall hangings they are useful and ideal for home or gift giving.

This is the perfect book to start with, and it comes highly recommended.

Inside Crochet

Tunisian crochet is a mystery to some of us traditional hookers. with its long hook and knit-like appearance it seems an insurmountable skill. However, this brand new book by designer Emma Guess dissolves all those new skill anxieties with crisp, modern styling, wearable and useful projects and an especially good step-by-step techniques section. The photography is lovely, ant the bright images and cool, graphic projects instantly encourage one to try out this technique-worth it alone for the beautiful textures and wonderful patterns you can create with loops and hook.

The cover project- a LOVE wall hanging- is a perfect project to test basic stitches and Tunisian colourwork, while the Sampler Scarf is a beautiful way to explore the fabulous (and fully illustrated) stitch glossary. If you knit and crochet, you'll find that this book combines the best of both crafts, plus there's homeware and accessories that are great stash busters and potential gifts- that is, if don't want to keep these handmade beauties to yourself!
