Discover the worldwide movement spreading kindness and love through the power of crochet!

Create 25 sweet and simple crocheted items to label with love and place in your local community, ready to brighten someone else's day.

Random Acts of Crochet Kindness (RAOCK) has a simple purpose: create something special and then leave it out in the world for someone else to pick up and enjoy. These tiny acts of everyday magic have captivated fans worldwide - the #RandomActsOfCrochetKindness hashtag has been used by countless people sharing their testimonies of being touched by the thoughtfulness of strangers.

After a personal tragedy, author and founder Olivia Dieterich started the movement to channel her sadness into creativity. She found that in addition to the boost to her own mental health, each small act of kindness had a profound effect on someone else's day as well. Her UK-based Facebook group now has over 350,000 members, and affiliated groups have since been created all over the world.

Inside is everything you need to get involved:

  • A beginner-friendly crochet how-to section, explaining every stitch and technique step by step.
  • 25 crochet patterns: a range of quick makes that you can create in under an hour, including flowers, rainbows, stars, hearts, smiley faces, a sunshine, and more.
  • 'Guest' designs from a range of well-known crochet designers, including Sarah-Jayne Fragola (@BellaCoco), Sarah-Jane Hicks (@flo_and_dot), Natasha Emmerson (@love.indy_) and Alexandra Lund (@nattythread).
  • A guide to making labels, with templates to copy, wording to adapt or borrow, and ideas for where to place your 'acts of kindness'.
  • Olivia's story, the journey of RAOCK into a global movement, plus real-life stories from members of the group.

Kindness is contagious, so pass it on!

About the Author

About Olivia Dieterich

Olivia Dieterich grew up around crafts thanks to her Nan, but she found a true passion for crocheting when she was at school and struggling with her mental health; she learned to crochet from watching Bella Coco on YouTube.

Olivia loves using crochet to put kindness out into the world and finds that doing so hugely benefits her own mental health, as well as bringing joy to other people. In 2019 she started the UK-based Facebook group Random Acts of Crochet Kindness, which now has over 350,000 members, with affiliated groups created all over the world, sharing kindness on a global scale. This is her first book.
